This top is amazing, let's just get that out there right away :) You can lose yourself staring into the grain, seeing swirls of colour and texture throughout.
We don't use Korina, or White Limba, often, as it's a little hard to to source, but well worth it. Back in the 1950's, Gibson USA (tm) took delivery of a new timber from one f their suppliers, called Limba. An African timber, it was so uncommon at the time, Gibson didn't know what to do with it. In the end, they used it for their new "futuristic" models, the Flying V, Explorer, and Moderne. And the name? Trying to get the edge over the competition (Fender!), they renamed Limba as Korina, and added a slight yellow pigment to the clear coats. No one knew for decades, that Korina was simply a made up name Gibson came up with :D
SPECIAL NOTES: Machined Alloy backplates identify this as one of our CustomShop handmade instruments. Alloy ring inlays with Ebony centres.
